A wealthy gentleman, living in North Devon, who took a great interest in the church, offered to give the choir a treat, and decided on the really princelv one of taking them lor a week to Paris. , , He escorted them himselr to places of interest and beauty, in that charming city, but not once during their whole stay, or even on tlieir return, did one of the men say to him that he liked the trip or had enjoyed himself. , , Naturally anxious to know whether thev had done so, a few ‘lays after their return, he asked one of the churchwardens, a- farmer in the village, whether he thought the men had enjoved their time in Paris. The cnurchwarden cogitated for a moment or two. “Well, sir,” he said, at length, “I ain’t heard no complaints!”
