On Mr. Ivummer’s property, Kummerstein, there is a strong thermal activity. On© gvser has been very active of late, throwing great quantities of mud and water to a height of some thirty or forty feet. So persistent has it been in its outflow that one big gully is already filled up, and the flow still continues. At another point on the same property there is a strong expulsion of gas. This, when a match is placed to the vent, ignites. About seven miles from Kummerstein, on the Glenburn estate, there is another thermal belt, and from this the air is heavy with sulphur fumes.
