A SERIES OF RESOLUTIONS

The Newport Labor Conference has closed. Among many resolutions briefly discussed the following were carried: Any child certified to as being badly nourished shoidd be compelled to attend school meals/children also to be fed during the holidays; that it be made obligatory on local education authorities to provide schools with efficient baths.
Resolutions were carried in favor of nationalisation of railways and water-, ways, and against all forms of militarism.
The conference voted representatives in the House of Commons £6OO for the 1908 session and £3O each member for the autumn session of 1909. Ordinary Parliamentary maintenance cost ,£6123. The year’s subscriptions to the Parliamentary fund totalled £13,826, the balance in hand being £14,755.
