The value of circumstantial evidence was likened' by Mr. Justice Cooper, in the course of bis directions to a jury at the Supreme Court, Auckland, to a bundle of sticks which, though they might be snapped singly, could not be broken collectively. This simile. His Honor thought was much more appropriate than the proverbial illustration of a weak link indicating the weakness of the whole chain.
