The matter of tlie canteen, or rather - the absence of the canteen, in compulsory training camps, was touched upon by the Christchurch Presbytery last week, when a communication was received from the Minister of Defence giving,/particulars of the sections of the Defence Bill dealing with this matter. The Rev. Gr. B. Inglis suggested that it was the duty of ministers themselves to volunteer for service and attend the encampments. “Wc would get a service in, anyway, and I for one am prepared to do ‘my part,” he concluded. Only one minister made comment on tffchis suggestion, and he said that be had attended camps, but the results had been disheartening.
