APPROACHING VISIT TO NAPIER

[Special to “Times.”] NAPIER, Feb. 21

Tin*, Governor. Lord Piunket, was communicated with I)- the Mayor (Mr. J. Vigor Broivn. M.P.), and asked if he would open the new children’s word at the hospital on the afternoon of March 3rd. His Excellency replied that he could not possibl- perform the ceremony in the afternoon, but would be pleased to do so at 11 o’clock in the morning. The' programme for the Governor’s visit, therefore, is as follows: Arrive by express train, March 2nd, and he escorted by guard of honor; 11 a.m., March 3rd, open the children’s ward; noon, receive address of welcome at the Marine Parade rotunda; 1 p.m., lunch at the Masonic Hotel; 2 p.m., depart for Hastings. The Mayor is issuing invitations to the chairmen of various local public bodies and the local clergy to be present at the luncheon to the Governor at the Masonic Hotel.

VISIT TO NELSON. TPer Press Association.] NELSON, Feb. 21. The city was en fete at the farewell visit of the Governor. An address of welcome was presented, and there was a procession of iriendly societies, citizens, etc., this afternoon. The principal streets were draped with flags. A luncheon took place at noon, and an inspection of public institutions in the afternoon. The Freemasons entertained Lord Plunket to-night, and take him to Cable Bay to-morrow. The citizens tender a conversazione tomorrow evening, and His Excellency will depart on Wednesday.
