Writing under date, Londdn Jan. i, Messrs Ivedclel and Co., report as follows: r/ Butter. —Australian and New Zealand butter have met with good demand notwithstanding the reeeips tor the week being very large, amoruitmg altogether to 99,592 boxes. There is a oreac- scarcity of secondary quality butter on the market. The difference of por in favor of xiiisalfcd. lins disappeared, and both kinds are making the same price. {Shipments this week consist of 43,750 boxes in the “Morea,” of which about 70 per cent. are salted. , Cheese. —The market has advanced a shilling on the week and remains firm at the advance.

There is .acre demand at present quotations. Tiie price of choicest New Zealand butter is 118 s per cwt. Danish 1255. An -tr:Jian and- Argentine 115 s. The butter and cheese shipments ex Athcnic arrived in good condition. Tire cheese market is firm. _ .The price of finest New Zealand white is (30s, colored 57 s, Canadian making 2s more. The hemp market is quiet, with a tendency in favor of buyers. Prices are: On snot. New Zealand good fair grade £26 10s. fair grade £25 10s, Manila fair current £26: February* April shipments, good fair grade £25 Iss, fair £25; Manila £24 10s. The Manila output for the -week was 20,000 bales. \ There lias .been no alteration in the cocksfoot seed market unco last weekks report (New Zealand 745). The oat market continues dull. New Zealand spar row bilk, ex granary, per quarter of 3841 b, is at 19s: New Zealand and Danish 3201 b 17s Gd. Wool: Tops are firm at the following current Bradford quotations: 36s (low crossbreds) 14s, 40’s (low crossbreds) lod, 44’s (medium crossbreds) 17cl 60’s (balfbreds) 204 d, 56’s (quarterbreds') 23d, 60’s (merinos) 27d.
