EXCITING RUNAWAY. An exciting runaway occurred Tester, day morning in Upper Gladstone Road. A two-horse dray, loaded with timber, was standing in front of the. Royal Hotel when the horses took fright at Dr. Schumacher’s motor-ear and bolted In front of Messrs Cave Bros.’ timber yard they collided with another, dray, which capsized, and the occupants, Schrozer, the driver, and a boy, were precipitated on to the road. The first dray continued a short- way, and also capsized, but the driver was fortunate enough to escape unhurt. Sehrozer was slightly hurt, and was attended to by Dr. Schumacher. The horses escaped uninjured, but. the drays were slightly damaged.

FOUND DEAD IN A DITCH. The dead body of Charles Gilbert, storekeeper, was found in a ditch beyond Kaukapakapa, with several stabs on the left arm. In liis pocket there was a blood-stained ’knife, also a naper that bore the following, “Too done up to go any further. Lost- coat and all contents.”

FATAL RESULT OF AN ACCIDENT.
