RATHE PICTURES

The Rathe Picture performance last night- was well attended, and the programme much enjoyed. To-night the announce a complete change of pictures, among the best being a lengthy series depicting “Life in the British Navy." There is net a dull feature in this splendM set, and an •excellent idea is obtained of the training of our iolly Jack Tars. Another of Pathe Fiore’s triumphs is included in this programme, namely, “Othello." a magnificent colored qiictorial adaptation of Shakespeare's great drama.

“Mexican Bill" is a good American story, dealing with an episode or cowboy life, in which lore plays a prominent part. Two excellent scenic pictures are “A Visit to Bombay." colored, and “Beauty Spots of British Columbia." the latter showing the famous Bonuington Falls and the great Rocky Mountains. Other good subjects included are “The Legend of Orpheus' (colored). “The Resin Industry," “The Convict’s Dream,” and “A Tale of the Crusades." The comics are well up to the usual standard.

ANDREW BLACK CONCERT COMPANY.

Gisborne residents are to have another opportunity of making the acquaintance of Mr. Andrew Black and his concert company. Mr. Black is easily remembered. The. famous baritone’s past visits have proved what a fine singer he is. and oratorio, opera, or the homely English and Scotch ballad arc equally easy to this fine artist. Mr. ‘Black is bringing with him another

■'"t'st of great ability, viz.. Herr Auton Tschaikov, a celebrated violin virtuoso. This gentleman was born in Russia, and received his first lessons from his father who is a ’cellist of note. Although young in years, the musical cities who have heard him unanimously agree as to his mastery of the instrument. The other members include, besides Mrs. 1 Black, Miss Eily Gross, a contralto vocalist of great ability, and bliss Lilian Delanev, one of Sydney's favorite pianists. The Gisborne season 1 will open on 12th. March.
