Tilic sequel to the fracas at the a,Vaibannulga School (near Waimate) came up at the last meeting of the South Canterbury Education Board, when a petition signed by seventeen householders was read, asking for the removal of the teacher, Mr. Bannerman. Several reasons were advanced for the request, the most prominent of which was the inability of the head master and the committee to pull together, and consequent injury to the school. In . reply to a question, the secretary said that- Mr. Banncrman was a superannuated servant who had returned to the service. After some discussion the Board passed the following resolution: —“That the Board, after due. consideration of the evidence before it, from both the head master and the committee, re tlie dispute between them, considers that nr the best interests . of the school- and district it is advisable that the head master be removed. by transfer if practicable, and if not practicable, lie be asked to retire on superannuation.”
