Powerful’s message on Friday again / picked up the flagship last night when lying in Auckland harbor, (fsome messages were -in distinct, but tiro, one ol about a dozen words, were received quite plainly. The latter was received about 11.26 p.m. The successful experimenter is Mr Pike, of the Works Department. Mr Heskett, chief electrical engineer, considers, that Mr P-ike’s detector will prove valuable as a means of extending the range of a

given plant with a given expenditure and energy. Mr Pike’s use of a-rr aerial wire only fifty feet showed that great aerial height was not essential to successful rece-i-ving. A noticeable fact was that 'Mr Pike’s best result was -obtained late at night. That tallied with -the experiences of the naval authorities.
