THE CONTROL OF HORSE RACING.

THE NEW REGULATIONS

(Tun Press Association.] WELLINGTON, March 3. A new set of regulations relating to the payment of duty in respect to the use of totalisators at race meetings and also to the gross takings of clubs has been prepared iu accordance with the amending Act of last session, and in the “Gazette” this week every statement of finance which it is necessary for racing clubs to forward to the Minister of Internal Affairs under the Act will have to be signed by one of the club stewards and verified by statutory declaration made by l the secretary or other chief executive officers. In all cases the amount of duty payable will have to be paid within 14 days after the holding of the race meeting in respect of which it is payable. Before granting to any racing club a license to use a totalisator at any race meeting the Minister of Internal Affairs has power, if he thinks fit, to require a security for the payment by the club of all duties and other sums for which it is liable. The security will be in the form of a bond for such sum as the Minister may determine and is to be entered into by two or more responsible club officials.
