PERSONAL.
The Mayor (Mr. W. D. Lysnar) returned to town yesterday afternoon, after having paid a- visit to his Arowhana property and the oil bore at AYaitangi. He will present a. report regarding the progress of boring operations to a. meeting of directors of the Gisborne Oil Company to-day. \ Press Association message from Auckland last night states that the Prime . Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, Paves this morning for Cambridge, where he will attend the. agricultural show. He may afterwards visit Te Aroha and Rotorua. Tire Hon. Jas. Carroll leaves Auckland 'for Rotorua this morning. Constable J. J. Pendergast has been transferred from Napier to Gisborne to replace Constable Dwyer, who was recently transferred to .Hastings. Constable ‘Pendergast arrives to-morrow morning. Rev. J. McKenzie, 8.D., recently appointed pastor of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, was tendered a welcome social to-night in the drill ball, which held a large audience. During the evening Mr McKenzie was resented, with a bicycle and Mrs McKenzie was given a valuable couch.
