TURANGANUI CLUB
At the Turanganui Club’c green on Saturday afternoon, several enjoyable games wore played. Among them was a challenge game for the Pennant Fours, the result of which was: — Dan. Barry, W. H. Douglas, 13. Hird. A. Sawyer (skip) (challengers) 19 beat G. Edwards, R. Thelwall, P. E. Hallam, J. J. Martin (skip) (holders) 18. — In the absence of Edwards and Hallam, their places were filled by H. Martin and W. 0. Skeot. The' game was a very even one throughout, the scores showing 10 all on the 10th bead and 18 all on the 20th head. On the last head Hird obtained the shot, but Skeet beat him and lay the shot when the skips went down. Martin, with his first bowl, essayed to block Sawyer’s draw, but went too strong and took the jack from Slceet, giving it to Hird. The remaining bowls did not alter the posi_ tion, and Martin thus suffered defeat by one point. The winners have been challenged to a game next Saturday, the challengers being A. Skillicorn, H. J. Finn, R. MeWhirter, and M. G. Nasmith, junr.
