ARUNDEL LAND SALE.
SUBURBAN SECTIONS OFFERED
There was a- fairly good attendance in His Alajesty’s Theatre on Saturday morning, when Messrs Parker Bros, and Sheridan offered for sale the- Arundel township properties, and also a number of sections in the vicinity of Clifford Street and Stafford Street, t-h e latter properties being submitted on behalf of the executors in the estate of the late AAY S. Lunn. There was not a keen demand -for land, many-would-be purchasers declaring the values to- be much too high. Mr. J. F. Sheridan officiated as auctioneer, and the following are the details of the sale: — ARUNDEL TOAVNSHIP. Section 7,2 roods 24.1 perches, Air. C. Buscke, £220. After section 2, half-acre, had been offered and failed to elicit a- bid, the ri\or front-age sections were submitted as follows: Section 13, 1 acre, passed in at £4OO. Section 14, 3 roods 36 perches (adjoining), passed in at £315. Section 20, 2 acres 3 roods 24 perches, and containing dwelling house, formerly the property of Air J. Arundel, orchard and plantation, Air J. P. ATurphy, £1025. This section started at £BOO, and rose r-apidly by £25 bids until it was knocked down to Air. Alurphy. Section 4, half-acre, Riverside Road, passed in at £175. Section 12, half-acre, Sheridan Street, Air. A. Knibb, £2OO. Section 11, half-acre (adjoining), Mr. A. Knibb, £IBO. Section 17, 1 acre 1 rood, passed in at £425 This section is directly oppositethe island, and was declared by the auctioneer to be “one of the choicest i-n Poverty Bay.” The (remaining Arundel township sections were- then withdrawn from public auction. After the conclusion of the sale sections 3,4, 5, 6 (half-acres),. 19 (la 2r 2p) and 21 (la Or 14p) were disposed of to Air. J. P. Alurphy for a lump sum of £2500. Further private sales effected were: Section 22, (1 acre 1 rood 18 perches), Air. AY. Hoff, £436, Section 23, adjoining (1 acre 3 roods 13 perches), and containing windmill, Air. D. Donovan, £4OO per acre.
CLIFFORD STREET PROPERTY. Section 111 (1 rood 2 perches), with residence, Air. H. deLautour, £B3o. This section was started at £6OO. Section 112 (adjoining), 33 perches, did not reach the reserve of £350. Section HO (22 perches), passed m nf Section 107 (32 perches), corner Clifford Street and Riverside Road, passed in at £4OO. It was offered as a prospective business site. The sales effected at auction and privately throughout- the day reached a total of £5446.
