COURSING.

POVERTY BAY COURSING CLUB

A meeting of the .Poverty Bay Coursing Club was held last night. Mr. R. Davidson presided, and there was a good attendance of members. It was decided that the opening meeting of the season should be held at the club’s plumpton on Thursday and Friday, April 7th and Bth. The following events will comprise the programme: — „ Poverty Bay Maiden Stakes, of £SO, for dogs and bitches that have not won more than £5 in cash or trophy at any one meeting. First dog £3O, runner-up £B, and £l2 divided amongst six dogs. Park Sweepstakes (open), for any number of dogs or bitches. Nominations for both- events close at Morse’s “Central” Saloon at 8.30 p.m. on Saturday. April 2nd, and acceptances at the same place on Tuesday, April sth. The fee in each case is £1 Is.

Mr. Fletcher (late of Auckland) was appointed judge, and Messrs R. Daridson and B. Sutton slippers. It was reported that the plumpton is in excellent order, and that the hares recently purchased were a fine strong lot. The management confidently anticipate a successful season.
