LONDON WOOL SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile. Agency Co.. Ltd., were yesterday in receipt of the following cablegram from their London office re wool: — There was a full attendance at the opening of the sales to-day, competition by Home and Continental buyers being active. 'l'he opening catalogues were fairly representative. As compared with last sales’ closing rates, prices are about the same for fine crossbred and medium crossbred, about par to 5 per cent lower for coarse crossbred, and about 5 per cent higher for greasy merino. America is buying suitable lots of crossbred. The Bank of New Zealand has received the following Loudon cablegram, (later March B: —The wool sales have opened with strong competition and a large attendance of buyers. The market is strong. .For all kinds of merino the demand is active. The current prices for South Island farmers’ lots, in average condition, wore: Coarse crossbreds (36’s to 40’s) lOld to lid per lb. ; medium (44’s to 46’s) 151 id to Is Id. line (50’s) Is lid to Is 2d. HIGH .COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. [Pick Pkkss Association.) WELLINGTON, March 9. A cablegram from the High Commissioner date 1 March 8 states: —The wool sales comm ■'•. ci’d to-day with an active demand, merino--, and fine and medium crossbreds selling at fully last sale’s prices.
