HOUSE PARTIALLY DESTROYED AT PONSONBY. I”Per Press Association.! AUCKLAND, Alarch 10. A house of six rooms, on the Marine Parade, Ponsonby, owned by Air. A. Coleman, and occupied by Air. A. It. Hob-day. was almost completely destroyed by lire to-day, together with its contents. Airs. Hobday is away from Auckland, and Air. Hobday was on his way to town when the outbreak occurred They cannot account for the origin of the lire, beyond a- surmise that it may have been caused by rats, for it apparently" started in the roof. The furniture was insured in the Yorkshire office for £4OO. The insurance on the house was £2OO, in the South British. 11-ROOMED HOUSE DESTROYED. WANGANUI, Alarch 10. A. fourteen-roomod house was destroyed bv lire at AVaverley, early this morning. It was owned by J. Hughes, and occupied by Reid, who had barely time to escape. The insurance was £6OO.
