OBITUARY.
MR. D. McKXLLOP. The many friends of Mr. Donald McKillo-p will regret to hear that he passed away at the hospital at 7.45 p.m. on Saturday from a malignant growth in the stomach. The deceased, who has been in Gisborne for about seven years, employed by Mr. J. Colley as a joiner, had been ailing for about three months, and on Tuesday last went into the hospital. An -operation was performed on Wednesday. Mr. MclCillop had many friends in Gisborne. He wag a Freemason, and was about 53 years of age, a sin Me man, and came to Gisborne from Christchurch. He was an old and able bandmaster, having had charge of the Stanmore Band, near Christchurch, the Lyttelton Brass Band, and here the Gisborne Rifles band. Latterly he was fc the leader of a private band known as MclCillop s band At one time lie. was recognised as one of the best cornet soloists in New Zealand. In addition, the deceased was an okl volunteer. His home, was in Invercargill,‘where his father still lives. The funeral is to leave the Hospital at 2.30 p.m.. to-day.
