EIGHT HOURS ACT UNSATISFACTORY. United Press Association —Copyright LONDON, March 13. The Durham miners’ delegates have decided to endeavor to obtain, alterations in the eight hours agreement in preference to its abolition. The employees in sixteen Northumberland collieries have tendered notice to strike against the working conditions finder the Eight Hours Act. MINERS’ AND ENGINEERS’ REQUESTS REJECTED. (Received March 9.35 p.m.) LONDON, March 14. The Northumberland Miners’. Association askbcl the owners to receive a deputation to consider an eight hours’ agreement. The owners declined, but are willing to discuss any other question . The North-west Engineering Employ, ers’ Association rejected the Clyde engineers’ request for a 53 hours’ week, similar to that on the north-east coast.
