ST. PATRICK’S SPORTS.
TO BE HELD TO-DAY. The annual St. Patrick’s sports are to be held on Victoria Domain to-day commencing at 1 p.m. The following handicaps for the bicycle events have been declared 'by Mr W. Howard: No. 5, Bicycle Race, 1 mile.—S. Whitehead scratch, F. Mawliinney 10yds, J. King '2syds, Lio Wilkinson 40yds, B. 'Sutton 60yds, R. Huston 70yds, J. Wootton 70yds, W. J. Collins 70yds, T. MeOoomb 80yds, C. Stevenson 100yds. No. 11, Bicycle Race, 2 miles.—S. Whitehead scratch, F. _ Mawhinney 20yds, J. King 50yds, Lio - Wilkinson 90yds, H. Davis 90yds, B. Sutton HO, R. Huston 120yds. W. J. Collins 120yds, R. S. Wheeler 120yds. The Committee has decided to add to the programme a married women’s race, prizes for which have -been presented by Mr -J. Sheridan, -the _first being ah electro-iplated teapot and the second a preserves dish. There is also to be a race -for the officials for .a box of cigars presented by Messrs Parker Bros, and Sheridan. All the arrangements have been completed and l a very pleasant gathering may be expected. The catering has been entrusted to Messrs Clare and Sons. As already anhounced the afternoon train for Waitkohu is to leave Gisborne at 5 p.m., and will stop at Stanley Road to pick up passengers. The St. Patrick’s Day Social is to be held in the Garrison Hall to-night, commencing at 8 p.m. The art union in connection therewith is to be drawn during the evening.
