Air A’Gorman, manager of the Army Aerial Factory at- Famborough, states should tlie need arise they would he able to commission three airships, adequately manned, ready for their work.
FIRST AERIAL FLIGHT IN AUSTRALIA. (Received March 19, 12,55 a.m.) MELBOURNE, March 18. The first aerial flight in Australia was accomplished to-day by Mr. Houdini, a. musical performer. He used a Voisin bi-plane weighing 140 pounds with a 69 horse-power petrol engine. The trial took place at Diggers’ Rest. Ho made three ascents. In. the first he covered a mile, in a little over a minute at a height of 40 feet. Ii the second he went up 100 feet and remained in the air Three minutes. In the. third flight he covered three miles in a little over four minutes. The machine descended gracefully and gently to the earth.
