MINING.
NEW WAIHI EAST GOLDMINING COMPANY.
Interviewed -by a “Times” reporter Captain Whiteley, a director of the New Waihi East Goldmining Company, gave the following information: The requisite number of 5000' shares required for allotment is now assured, and the allotment will take place on Monday the 21st inst.j at the registered olfice of the company in Napier. So soon as the new directors have 'been airpointed active operations will be commenced by sinking a shaft on the footwall side of the large lode already discovered, which is 1112 feet from wall to wall at the outcrop. It is fully expect, cd to open up mineralised ore of good quality at a depth of about 200 feet from the surface. In tunnelling along the New Waihi East boundary the Wailii Company cut through two splendid looking quartz reefs, each from 3 to 4 feet thick, and both bearing in the direction of the New Waihi’s big reef. This strengthens the opinion expressed by a celebrated mining engineer and expert, engaged to report on the New Waihi property, who stated that by sinking on the foot-wall side of our big lode we should discover good payable ore in large quantity probably at a depth of not more than 200 feet. Asked his opinion of the property Capt. Whiteley said: “I consider the New Waihi East, with good Thanagement, lias greater .possibilities of a brilliant future than any other property in the group, outside the Wailii itself. Within the last few weeks,” adds Captain Whiteley, “we have been approached by several of New Zealand’s most able representatives, who are all most anxious to have the opportunity of placing this property on the English market. Two are already on their .way to London and should the shareholders decide in favor of thus disposing of the property 1 have every confidence in predicting a successful issue in the course of a few months.
