A ROYAL ROMANCE.
The appearance of the Archduke Eranz Ferdinand’s wife, the Duchess of Honenberg, at a Court ball in "V ienna, at which the Emperor was present, has created a great stir throughout Axistria. There is no more romantic family in: the world than the Austrian royalties. Their history is one of chequered light and shadow, by no means aly/ays admirable, but frequently almost rising to acts of almost fool-hardv romance. Archdukes who disappear, arehduches‘nes who run away, heirs who fling away their crowns when they fall in love, and so forth —the annals are full of such cases, often ending in sheer tragedy. Tire Archduke Franz Ferdinand’s wife, a strong and interesting personality, and'a woman of handsome and imposing aspect, has borne'well and proudly the discomforts of a morganatic wife’s posi_ tion ; and though many were surprised, few were sorrv to see her at last appearing at an official function, and made much of in public by the Emperor.
