MAKAURI SCHOOL.
PRIZE DISTRIBUTION AND CONCERT.
The annual prize distribution and concert in connection with the Makauri school took place in the schoolhouse last night. Despite the unfavorable nature of the weather the building was filled to the doors, and a most pleasant social evening was spent. An excellent musical programme was arranged by Mr J. Adair, and consisted of itcm s by Mrs Taplay, Messrs Vita Bros., Morris, Manning, Grieve and Knight. The accompaniments were ably played by Mrs Taplay, Mrs Grayson and Miss C ussen. During the evening the school prizes lvere distributed, the list of winners being as folio avs : — Standard 7, Edith Bryce and Angus Nicholson; Standard 6. Vincent Griffen, Lorna Mortleman Allan Toole, and Cyril Butterfield; Standard 5, Joseph Read, Ivy Shvainson and Lilian McCreedy; Standard 4, Donald Nicholson, Ernest Weeks and Edward Butterfield; Standard 3, Alex SAvainson, Fred Read, and Doris Smith; Standard 2, Mona Harris, Bernard Jackson and Ivy McCreedy; Standard 1, Francis Field, Tora Nicholson, and Ina Bryce. Attendance medals: Gold medal for 6 years unbroken attendance, Edith Bryce; silver medals, Violet Nicholson, Hazel SAvainson, Wilhelmina Bryce, Ivy McCreedy, Gladys Jones, Elizabeth Read, Frank Jones, Allan Toole, Alfred Weston, Fred Read, Joseph Mazengarb, Edward Mortleman, Bernard Jackson, Thomas Linklater. Colin Campbell, and Cyril Jackson ; attendance prizes, Angus Nicholson, Vincent Griffen, Elsie Revel], Frank Weeks, Lilian McCreedy, Ivy SAvainson, Donald Nicholson, Ernest Weeks, Alex Swainson, Ellen' Cassidy Olive McCreedy, Daisy Gordon, Sarah Ryan, and Hazel Gordon; prizes for collecting, Lawson Field, Cyril Butterfield and Frank Jones.
