PERSONAL.
An Auckland telegram states that Mr. D. Petjie, chief inspector of the Board of Education for seventeen years, has resigned. His resignation was accepted with an acknowledgment of appreciation and respect. Mr. Albert G. 'Holland, Registrar of tlie Native Land Court. Auckland, has been appointed Judge of the Native Land Court. Dr. Sydney H. Hay, who took his degree, at Otago University, has been, appointed house surgeon and assistant medical officer at Rotorua Sanatorium. The Hon. J. A. Millar. Minister cf Railways, leave s for Sydney to-day. He intends to make personal investigation of railway management in Australia under Commissioners. Mr. R. McVilley, of the Railway Department, accompanies him.
