The racing club has increased the Melbourne Cup stakes to £6OOO for first horse, £I2OO for second, and £6OO for third. The Newmarket Handicap lias been increased to £ISOO, and the Derby to £3OOO for first horse. £6OO for second and £3OO for third. The Grand National Hurdles prize has 'been increased to £ISOO. Other increases have been sanctioned, the whole totalling £5475.
