FEILDING RACES. FEILDING, March 28. The Feilding Jockey Ohib y s Easter meeting commenced to-day. Thp, weather was fine, but cold, and there was a large attendance. Four bookmakers were inside, and eleven outside. The totalisator figures were £14,138, an increase of £2035 on Easter Monday last year. The results were:— Waiata Hack, about 2 miles.—John 1, Toanga 2, Stratlimoira 3. Also started: Repeat, Mouta, Girl, Howler, Plantation. After some delay Toanga got a break of half a length. At the furlong John took the lead, and Strath, moira replaced him at the distance. John came, again and won by naif a length, Strathmoira a- bad third. Time, lmin 0 l-osec. All the horses got away nicely, Gold Bird andi Hydrant making the pace. Round the back Hydrant still led, with Malm and Oryx next. At the home turn the last three were almost in line, Oryx on the outside. These three rose together at the last hurdle. In the homo, run Oryx took the lead, winning comfortably by half a length. Weather conditions were not at all favorable for the opening of the Cam terbury Jockey Club’s autumn meeting to-day. Heavy rain fell overnight, and there was a thick drizzle all the morning and during the early part of the afternoon, then clearing off. The attendance was naturally affected. The going was heavy. The totalisator investments amounted to £13,379, as against £17,853 last year. Ten bookmakers were licensed inside and twenty-three outside. The non-starters were: Blue Book and Elavinus. Kcrlie showed the way to the straight, the nearest attendants being Beau Vive, Maltine and Traflagar. Passing the stand Kerlie still led from Beau Vive and Maltine, with Downfall last. There was little change along the back. Kerlie passed the six-furlong post clear of Beau Vive, followed by Blackrange, Olivaster, and Maltine. Before reaching the five furlong .post Kerlie gave place to Blackrange, who had Olivaster as nearest attendant. 'Olivaster moved to the front at the half-mile, with Vavasor second and Daisy Chain and Miltine handy. Olivaster was first into the straight from Daisy Chain, Jinnee and Vavasor. Once fairly on the way home Vavasor came through and won by two lengths, a similar distance separating second and third.
