£1,000,000 IN WAGES,
The loss of wages caused by the coal strike has been estimated at the enormous total of £1,055,297, and the min. ers alone are said to have lost £792,000. The figures are for the most part those given by officials of unions from their knowledge of the number of men unemployed and the wages paid, _ Iu the case of the miners they are estimated on the statement of the employers of the average fortnightly pay-sheets.
