Captain Carlson considered it the worst he has experienced. The heavy fresh in the river yesterday morning .added to the Fanny's difficulties, and considerable difficulty was experienced in getting up the river. The Fanny was to have rei turned last evening, but could not get away on account of the- weather. The Tyser liner Star of Australia left 'Wellington early yesterday morning for Gisborne, and should arrive to-day. ; The U.S.S. Co.is Squall was due today from Auckland, via Tologa Bay, f- but tlie rough - weather will necessitate her sheltering on the Coast. The U.S.S. Co.’s Flora is due to sail frwn Auckland this evening for Coast ports and Gisborne. Word was received last evening that h: the U.S.S. Co.’s Monowai, from Auck-
land, was sheltering at TeAYraroa, in (■' the Flora’s anchorage. If tire wdatliey C- moderates she should arrive this morn|bing. In the meantime the launch has A- been fixed for noon. The following have, booked for South by the Monowai: Messrs Combs, Bremner, Green, Johnston, Bullen, Clare. Ponsonby, Mclntyre (2), Bempton, Winn, Farrell, and 1 Hale; Mesdames Buscke, Field, and Mclntyre; Misses Williams (2), Rosie, f Gleener, McCormack, Atkinson, MclnLiyirby and Thompson; Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood; Mr. and Mrs. A.M. Shield. The U.S.S.
