Private cables from Fiji show that the fears as to the extent of the damage done by the hurricane are unfounded. The damage is chiefly confined to Suva, ad in the vicinity of Levuka. Ba, Lautoka, and Taviuni escaped damage, but it will be a- few days before the effect of the storm, if any, on the outlying islands is known.
