KILLED OX THE BAIL WAT
[UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPY RIGHT. J SYDNEY, Jan. 2. Two railway employees named Horan, during a flood were riding a railway tricycle. It collided with a train, and both were ‘killed. A BATHING *-iXALLTY. Two sisters named Lyons were drowned while bathing in the river at Bayshill, near Taroo. A third girl was rescued, being unconscious when recovered. YOUNG GIRL DROWNED. [PER TRESS ASSOCIATION.! WANG.Ai-.01, Jan. 3. Rebecca Irvine, the third daughter of Captain Irvine, Castleciiff, was drowned on Sunday night. She and a sister and a, young man when returning homo from church, went to the breakwater. Her sister and the young man sat down at the top end of the breakwater, and deceased: as she had done on many occasions, intimated her intention of going to the extremity of the structure. When her sister returned home the house was in darkness. It was only next morning that the discovery was made that deceased’s bed. had not been occupied. The body was discovered on the beach a mile away, with a bad bruise on the hack of the head. Evidently deceased slipped off the footway, and fell on the rocks. A CHILD DROWNED. THAMES, Jan. 3. A child of three years, a daughter of Robert Ritchie, was playing with her brother, and fell off a ledge to a. crock below, and was drowned before help arrived. KNOCKED DOWN BY A TRAMCAR. WELLINGTON, Jan 3. Dennis Cronin, a cripple, was knocked down by a tramcar in Manners Street, and had his skua ( fractured. He was taken to the hospital, where lie lies unconscious. YOUNG MAN DIES SUDDENLY. NELSON, Jan. 3. Frank Raymond Thompson, 20 year* of age, residing with his parents at Foxhill,' died suddenly this morning., At the inquest a verdict of death from heart disease was returned. A FATAL RESULT. GREYMOUTH, Jan. 3. Bell, a victim of Friday’s trap accident, succumbed this morning. HEART DISEASE. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 3. Jessie Thermion, residing at Sydenham, whilst out walking with her sister on Saturday evening, complained of pains in the’chest, and was taken to her home, where she expired. The supposed cause of death is heart disease. Richard Blackburn, aged 52, died suddenly yesterday. Heart disease was the cause of death; BOY CRUSHED TO DEATH. DL'NEDIN. Jan. 3. A boy named John Firkins, under 4 years ot age, was badly crushed by a log rolling on him at Hunt Road, in the Catlins district, on December 26th. He succumbed to his injuries this morning. A BUSHMAN KILLED. INVERCARGILL, Jan. 3. James Campbell, aged 52, a. bush man, residing at Chiton, was killed by being thrown from a horse'on Sunday on the load near Woodend. Deceased was married and leaves 11 children.
