The N.Z. Land and .Mortgage Company cable: A general meeting adopted the’ directors’ recommendation that a dividend of 8 per cent, per annum he paid for the year (including an interim dividend) ; that £20,001) be paid to the reserve fund, and £7288 carried forward. The ch.lirman stated that the directors would probably pay 9 per cent, next year in two instalments. PROGRESS OF FEILDING. DEILDING, Jan 4. Buildings, including dwellings and business premises, to the value of £ 1 .4,000 were erected in the borough of Deilding last year. The outlook ior the I abiding trade for the new year is promising. TRAFFIC. ' On the four New Year holidays, 191011, the Christchurch Tramways carried 189,170 passengers, who paid cash fares totalling £2107, compared with 182,140 passengers: and £2127 for the same holidays 1909-10, an increase of 7030 passengers, and a decrease oi about £2O in revenue. On the eight davs Christinas and New Year holidays 1909- cash passengers carried numbered 342,138, compared with 403,398. 1910- The revenue 1909-10 was £3904 as compared .with £4464 in 1910-11, an increase of 61260 passengers, and of £539 in revenue. SOUTH ISLAND BOY SCOUTS. A Boy Scouts’ camp of instruction was commenced at AVainoni Park today, and will continue till Monday next. . About 200 boys from almost every part of the South Island are in camp, and it is expected that when all have arrived, the total will be close upon 400. The camp is under District Scout Master Goodman, and Dominion Chief Scout Cos-sgrove, is also in camp. SINKING, OF A DREDGE. DUNEDIN, Jan. 4. The- Rise ,4lid Shine No. 2 dredge sank in a paddock at Cromwell at noun in 40ft of water. The crew escaped in a boat, in the niejv of time.
