EARTHQUAKE IN TURKESTAN.

The Turkestan earthquake was recorded in England, France, Wales, Ireland, Spain, Italy, and Russia. Many inhabitants of Tashkend escaped from falling houses, but died of exposure and intense cold. SYDNEY, Jan. 6.
The Review College seismograph on Wednesday morning recorded an earthquake of a high degree of intensity apparently about 5500 miles away. The waves continued to arrive for several hours. ADELAIDE, Jan. 6. The Observatory instruments clearly recorded the Turkestan earthquake. The waves lasted four and a half hours. A TOWN INUNDATED AND DESTROYED. ST. PETERSBURG, Jan. 5. Owing to an earthquake, a lake overflowed and destroyed Pigevalsky. The earthquake annihilated two large villages.
