A VETERAN VOLUNTEER OFFICER

tPEE PRESS ASSOCIATION.] NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 10. The death occurred here to-dav of Uieut.-Colonel H. G. Payne, V.D. The deceased was for very many years an enthusiastic volunteer and about twelve months ago at New Plymouth was decorated with the volunteer officers decoration He had been 36 years in the A Battery, New Zealand Artillery, Auckland He came ,to Taranaki several years ago, and latterly was in business at Eltham. At the request of his friends there will not be a nnlitaiy funeral.
