During a strom at Wagga, lightning struck and destroyed a wire fence four miles long. At every knot the wire was soared throughout. Fifty grass fires were started, but were quickly extinguished. REMARKABLE WHEAT YIELD.
There has been a remarkable wheat yield atlandra, where share farming is carried out. Dart’s Imperial yielded up to 42 bushels to the acre.
THE VANCOUVER SERVICE. MELBOURNE, Jan. 10. The Federal Government to-day despatched a cable to Canada respecting the Vancouver mail service. It is understood that the Government * still holds out, against the inclusion of Auckland as a port of call, especially in view of the fact of Now Zealand having a reciprocal trade agreement with Canada.
