A great native meeting lias been in progress at Parewanui during the Christmas holidays (says the “Rangitikei Advocate”). Some-600 to 700 natives were encamped there, mainly in tents. The l preparations included securing hundreds of pigs, a small flock of sheep, live bullocks, etc., and one' feature was the purchase in Palmerston of 1500 pounds of wedding cake, to he used as Christmas cake. There were* six large three-deckers, most elaborately iced and ornamented. The liieeting is one of a series that have been held at the same place, but this year it is said to have been ,in honor of a Maori prophetess. A large number of Europeans who have been present by invitation, have been most hospitably entertained. The catering arrangements, as will be seen from the above bill-of-fare, were on the most lavish scale.

The first dose of. Stearns’ Wine of Cod Liver Extract is effective—you feel it. too— increased appetite, improved digestion, clear eyes, and rosy cheeks are the certain results.
