A CAMPAIGN OF WHOLESALE SPYING.
According to a recent ■•lndependent Cable Service” message from San Francisco published in Australia, new facts are continually coming to light which lend weight to the belief that Japan has been Intriguing in Manila for some time past. Continued activity against the Japanese indicates that startling evidence was unearthed in the recent raid on the quarter in which the Japanese live. 'l'lie operator of a mysterious wireless outfit has been deported. He was a Japanese, and another of his race, found bv officers of the United States Army during the search, is to be tried for illegally storing explosives Congress at Washington will be asked to enact new legislation to punish foreign spies. As a result of the Manila agitation, reports are forthcoming of wholesale spying both in the island possessions and on the Pacific coast of the United States.
