(Received Jan. 13, 1.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 12
A surprise was sprung on the city tonight by a strike of 1200 employees of the Australian Gaslight Co. _ Trouble has been brewing for some time. It started through the company dismissing an employee, a member of the union, who was found asleep at his post. To-night’s development was quite unexpected. Unless a speedy settlement is effecte! the city will be without gas. The senply is sufficient only for to-morrow night.
