BOWLING.
TURANGANUI CLUB. Play on the Turanganui green on Saturday was confined to practice games, and some enjoyable “roll-ups” were indulged in. With the return of the bowlers from the Northern tournament, it is expected that a conimencement will be made this week with the Handicap Pairs. An endeavor is being made to get the semi-final in the President’s Fours, between Simson’s and Nasmith’s, jun., rinks, played off next Thursday afternoon. The Bennett Cup eomoetition will be continued this week, the following being the position of the various players in the competition at the tonclusion of the fifth week’s play:
GISBORNE CLUB. The muster of members of the Gisborne Bowling Club at their green on Saturday was a very fair one considering the absence of so many prominent players at the Auckland tournament. The green was in very good playing order, and some very pleasant games were played. The results of the principal ones were as follows: — Price, Kirk, Brook Robertson (skip) 18 beat Cobb, Fieldhouse, Lewis, Johnstone (s’k ip) 16. Ashton, Gibb, Am bridge, Anderson (skip) 27 beat Allan, Murray, Kyme, Mackintosh (skip) 22.
