U’ee Press association.! WELLINGTON, Jan. IS. The High Commissioner’s cable, dated January 17, states: The wool sales con tinned.' There was a large attendance of buyers. Competition was con lined to 'Home manufacturers chiefly, whose trade is good, America and the Continent holding olf to ascertain the market value. A barge supply of crossbred wool is being offered. There were 58,800 hales of New Zealand wool catalogued. Fine wool was one halfpenny and medium and coarse three farthings lower. The estimated values of New Zealand wool at the close of the sixth series of colonial wool sales held in London on December (ith, 1911), were as follows: Superior merinos Is Id to Is 3jd, medium merino 10. id to Is Old, inferior merino 6]d to Oid, line crossbreds, all grades. Is lid to Is 4d, medium crossbreds lid to Is Id, coarse l crossbreds, all grades, 81d to 10 id. PRIVATE CABLE MESSAGES. Messrs. Dalgetv and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their head office, London : “Wool sales opened, attendance of buyers large, competition animated , good selection. As compared with the closing rates of last series. Merino looks show a decline of 5 per cent. Merino wools of other descriptions are 71 to 10 per cent, lower. Crossbred wools, fine quality, none ofFered; crossbred wools, medium and coarse quality, 71 per cent, lower. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., yesterday received the following cablegram from their London office re wool: —T here was a full attendance at the opening of. the sales to-day, competition by Home and Continental buyers being fairly’ active. Prices as compared with the close of preceding series ruled about /1 per cent, lower. The opening catalogues were representative. Greasy crossbred 5 nor cent, lower; good merino, about 71 per cent, to 10 per cent, lower.
