THE STEAMER PARISIANA.
ABANDONED WHEN ON FIRE

The steamer British Transport is arriving. She has signalled that she lias the crew of the overdue steamer Parisiana aboard. The Parisania was abandoned afire at sea. There are no details to hand.
[The Parisania was a steel single-screw steamer of 4823 tons gross, and 3084 tons net register, built in Newcastle-on-Tyne by the Northumberland Shipbuilding Company, Limited. She was owned by Furness, Withy, and Co., Limited, of West Hartlepool, and comanded bv Captain D.' Gordon. She was under charter to the American and Australian Steamship Line, and left New York on October 28th, with a full cargo of general merchandise for Melbourne, Sydney, .Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She left St Vincent (Cape Verde Islands) on November 11 last, after coaling.]
