SCOTTISH COMPOSITORS’ TROUBLES.

In connection' with the compositors’ action against the Scottish Typographical Association the Court of Session at Edinburgh decided that the Osborne judgment does not apply to an unregistered trade union. The Court held that the plaintiff society was entitled to an injunction without making a declaration that the defendant society’s rules were ultra vires and illegal. CALIFORNIAN CARPENTERS THREATEN TO STRIKE. NEW YORK* Jan. 20. Californian carpenters are demanding Increased wages, and threaten to strike if their demands are not acceded to. Twenty-two unions agreed to a sympathetic strike at Los Angeles if the carpenters’ claims are not allowed. THE SOUTH PACIFIC RAILWAY STRIKE. Mexican trainmen have been secured for the Southern Pacific Railway lines and traffic has been resumed. WOOD CARTERS’ STRIKE SETTLED. (Received Jan. 23, 12.10 a.m.) PERTH, Jan. 22. The wood carters’ strike, which for a considerable time seriously delayed mining operations, has been settled, mid work has been resumed. WELLINGTON CARPENTERS’ DISPUTE. LPER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Jan. 22. Negotiations for a new carpenters’ award were continued on Saturday before Mr. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner. A settlement was reached on matters affecting suburban and country work, piecework, overtime, and underrate workmen. The questions of preference, apprentices, hours of work and wages have yet to be considered.
