The steamer Aotea is ashore at Moville Point, close to the spot where the Maori was wrecked. She lies broadside on to the beach, with a list to seaward, and with water in all the holds. She is humping badly on the rocks, where she is wedged. There is little hope of saving the . vessel, but good prospects of salving the cargo if the weather is favorable. All hands are safe. Steam lighters have been despatched to salve the cargo. [The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Co.’s s.s. Aotea is a vessel of 5600 tons, commanded by Captain Prosser. She left London for Auckland and other I\ew Zealand ports on December 28th.]
