• , PALMERSTON N., Jan. 22. The seventh annual meeting of the Manawatu Rifle Association commenced on Saturday. The firing conditions were trying, but there was splendid shooting. The competitors included the champion, Halliday, and the ex-cham-pions, King and Hyde. In the Linton match, Rifleman Lumsden (Sandon); £2 10s, was first; Private Govenlock (Woodville). £2 10s, second; Sergeant Frank (Nelson), £2 10s, and Rifleman Feast (Opaki), £l, equal, with 50 points each. Rifleman Judd (Karori), £3, won the Oroua match with 67; Sergeant Frank (Nelson), £2 10s, 65, second; Private Loveday (AVoodville), £2, 63, third; Rifleman Lumsden (Sandon), £l, 63; Rifleman King (Opaki), £l, 6.3. The Manawatu match was won by Private Griggs (P.AALR.), £4, 69;, Private Loveday, £3, 68, second; Private G. Craw (Linton), £2, 68, third; Sergeant Dalziell (P. N. Guards), £2, 68; Rifleman Clark'(Rangitikei) £l, 67; Halliday (Karori), £l, 67. In the grand aggregate the five prizes were won by Private Lumsden (Sandon), 180, champion gold medal and £2; Sergeant Dalziell (P. N,, Guards), 179, gold and silver medal and 30s; Rifleman Judd (Karori), 179, silver medal and £1; Rifleman Craw (Linton), 178, 10s; and Sergeant Frank (Nelson), 177, 10s. o ;
