Evidence at the Chinese immigration inouirv disclosed the existence of a smugglin'- ring among opium sellers. Man v prominent subscribers to the vnti-Onium League were involved, and huge profits were made. One party of Chinese, learning the other was landing a big consignment of opium, personated detectives, and captured the whole of the booty. Vancouver was used as a centre to supply the chief Canadian cities.
