An Oklahoma boxer, Morris, is hailed as “the white man’s hope.” In a fifteen round contest at Oklahoma against Kennedy, another heavyweight, Morris sent his man to the boards four times before outing him in the second round. LANGFORD WINS AGAINST JEANETTE. At Boston Sam Langford, the “Boston Tar Baby,” defeated Joe Jeanette, the big colored 1 heavyweight, in twelve rounds, before the Armory Athletic Association on January 12th. Langford maintained a decisive lead throughout. He dropped Jeanette for •the count of eight in the first round, and did as he liked with him afterwards. A WIN FOR GUNNER MOIB. A heavyweight boxing bubble burst on January 12. Bombardier Billy YYolls, who, it was hoped, would develop into .a champion competent to recover the world’s championship for the white race, met Gunner Moir, and was defeated in three rounds. It is- probable that Moir will be matched to fight Al Kaufmann, but should the American refuse the offer Bill Lang will fill the breach. JOHNSTON AND KAUFMANN. Harry Fraser, a theatre manager, of New York and Chicago, has bid £lO,000 for a twenty-round bout between Jack Johnson and Al Kaufmann. If the men will agree as to the division of tlie purse, the match will take place at the new Stadium, London, during Coronation week. BURNS AND LANG. . Tommy Burns has received a cable from Mr. H. D. MTntosli, the Australian fight promoter, offering him a match against Bill Lang, the Australian heavyweight champion, at Sydney on Easter Monday. Burns has replied that lie will decide whether he will accept the offer or not within 30 days.
