At the Taranaki Education Board meeting to-night, the Inspector, Mr. Whetter, reported that, wishing, to sc»3 how Taranaki stood with regard to junior national scholarships, he had made?,aft analysis of those who had qualified for those scholarships in the Dominion. He had based his calculation on the attendance returns of 1909, owing to the 1910 returns being not yet available. Taranaki liad 45 schools- with 5793 scholars. In the percentage of scholarships per thousand Taranaki headed the list with 7.7 per thousand. .Marlborough was next with 7.0 Wellington 6.9, Otago 6.4, Hawke’s Bay 5.6, Auckland 5.4, and Westland 5.4.
