It is stated that Mr M. P. Cameron, hardware expert to the Customs Department. will shortly make a tour of the Dominion witli a view to investigating the precise condition of the engineering industry in the various centres, and will afterwards report to the Department. Tins is regarded as the outcome of representation made to the Government some months ago by engineering deputations, which askecl that the industry should be granted increased tariff protection.
