AGRICULTURAL SHOWS.
HOR OVVHENU A. [.PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION’..! LEVIN, Feb. 2. Tiie Hcrowhenua A. and P. Show was held at Levin yesterday in fine weather and in the presence gif a record attendance. The show was opened by the Hon. CL Fowlds, who, in tile course of his address, dwelt upon. the importance to New Zealand-of the rural course now provided in the education system, • and regretted that it was not as widely availed of as should be though Palmerston North and Waitaki High Schools were notable exceptions to this rule. The stock exhibits were all local, but some really fine specimens were shown in horses, cows, and sheep, while the special exhibit from the local State Farm had coiiild have been beaten in any New Zealand show. A motor bicycle race run annually in connection with the show again drew a big en_ try, and provided an. exciting finish. WAIPUKURAU. WAIPUKURAU, Feb. 2. The Central A. and P. Association held its inaugural show at Waipukurau yesterday. There was fine weather and a good attendance. Stock, with the attendance of horses, were poorly represented. Mr. Paul Hunter was the only exhibitor in Jerseys, and swept the hoard. In grade cattle Messrs Broo'ker and Coat- secured first prizes; draughts, Messrs. Harding, Todd, Fleming, Merriken, and Percival secured first; saddle horses, Messrs. Armstrong, Wells, Holiss, and Weld) firsts; harness horses, Messrs. St. Hill, Hoe, Hoy, and Todd firsts; Shorthorns. J. Butter, Ist; Lincolns. 01 liver Ist; English Leicester, Loban Ist; Border Leicester, Ormond junr. Ist; fats, Parsons, Merriken, and Welsh firsts; export sheep, Elliott Ist.
